Industrial Pedestal Fan
You should clean pedestal fans in interior rooms every other month. If you have a pedestal fan outside on a
patio or a humid area it should be cleaned every other week. In humid locations the fan can accumulate mold and a
fan outside will have dirt build up. The following tips will help keep your pedestal fan clean.
Just Follow These Steps
Have the fan turned off and unplugged from the wall. Move the fan to an area that will enable you to clean it
easily. A large table that has no clutter is a good place to clean the fan. You also need a place to place the fan
guards for the blades and the screws that keep them in place. Lay newspaper on the table to collect dirt. Get your
cleaning supplies together: clean paint brush, a household cleaner and paper towels.
Take off the fan blade guards. With the paint brush remove loose dirt and dust from the guards. Spray the guards
with the household cleaner and let it soak for around five minutes. Lay the fan blade guards on newspaper to catch
the drips. After you’ve let it soak wipe and dry the guards with the paper towels.
Use the paint brush to remove dust and dirt from the blades. Spray the cleaner on them and allow it to soak for
five minutes. Then use paper towels to wipe and dry them. If the fan blades have stubborn dirt on them repeat this
process.
Clean the base and pedestal with the cleaner and paper towels. You may have to repeat the process and remember to
clean the cord also. Clean the off-on button by spraying the cleaner on the paper towel not on the buttons. Clean
them gently and be sure you don’t get them too wet.
Put the blade guards back on after everything has dried. Be sure that the screws are tight so that
the guards are secure.
